Prospective Graduate Students

While our new lab continues to develop, we intend to regularly accept new Master's students through UVI's Master's of Marine & Environmental Studies (MMES) program*. If you are interested in pursuing a graduate degree, I encourage you to check out their program website and our Research tab to read about current projects that are underway in the lab. While we primarily focus on specific groups of invertebrates (mollusks, crustaceans) and their ecology, there is plenty of to branch to other groups for new projects, so I welcome students who come with their own research ideas. Please shoot me an email (clayton.vondriska@uvi.edu) telling me about your research interests and experiences and include a resume or CV.

*Note that UVI currently does not award Ph.D.'s in Marine & Environmental Studies.

All prospective graduate students should expect to apply for graduate fellowships and grants - these help pay your tuition and salary (releasing you from teaching or research assistantship duties, letting you focus on your research), make you a much more attractive candidate for graduate school (and beyond), and are some of the most impressive things you can have on your CV. Below are a few fellowships to consider. Smaller research grants are often available yearly both through the MMES program and externally.

1. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program
2. Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program
